Commission Your California Legal Classic Land Rover Defender
Are Land Rover defenders legal in all 50 states?
The answer is yes, except for California, but with California, we do have a company that we can put the Defenders to and make them legal for California with the smog check, which is a permanent smog check.
The rest of the other states, yes, they’re legal. So you’re probably wondering, well, how are they legal? Well, it’s really simple. It’s called the grandfather clause. These vehicles are more than 25 years old so that’s how we can legally import them into the country is because they meet the grandfather clause.
It’s no different than if you were to do a G-wagon or any other vehicle because that 25-year rule allows them to come in the country and not have to have all the different, for example, like airbags, catalytic converters, that type stuff.
So, yes, they’re legal for all 50 States except California, but we can make them legal for California and yes, you can drive them on the road. It’s no different than buying one of these or a classic Bronco or a classic Jeep Wagoneer. It’s really the same thing. It’s legal, except I think, I’m going to say this, I think they look a little cooler than those other vehicles.
