Why this Helderburg is named Arlo?
In the quiet sanctum of my study, surrounded by shelves laden with old books of poetry, I embarked on a journey through the pages of literary history. Among the dusty tomes, my fingers found solace in the elegant verses of Edmund Spenser’s “The Faerie Queene,” a 1590 epic poem that danced through the ages. It was a tapestry of words, a glimpse into the mystical realm that Spenser had woven with such finesse. As I immersed myself in Spenser’s poetic world, the name “Arlo” whispered from the ancient pages. Spoken in hushed tones, it resonated with a mystical allure, conjuring visions of a place both poetic and wondrous—a name that transcended time and place. “The Faerie Queene,” a celebration of Queen Elizabeth I and the Tudor dynasty, added another layer of significance. Its verses painted a portrait of an era, a tribute to a sovereign who had become a symbol of strength and resilience. It was as if the echoes of Queen Elizabeth’s Defender reverberated through the ages, inspiring admiration and devotion. The serendipity of this connection between literature and automotive craftsmanship struck me profoundly. In that moment, the decision was clear: I would name my Helderburg Defender D110 build “Arlo.” It would be a tribute to the poetic past, a symbol of timeless elegance, and a nod to the Defender’s role as a defender of tradition, just as Queen Elizabeth I had been. With each wrench turned and each panel assembled, Arlo became more than a vehicle; it became a vessel of history, carrying with it the echoes of Spenser’s words and the legacy of a queen’s reign. It would roam the modern world, a tangible link to a poetic past, and a testament to the enduring power of literature to inspire and shape our lives. And so, my Helderburg Defender D110, christened as “Arlo,” would continue to defend tradition, embodying the spirit of both literary artistry and automotive craftsmanship, forging its own legend in the annals of time.
